Bochinche

Bochinche (bo CHIN chay), a Spanish noun, refers to light-hearted gossip, or the noise of a party!

Bochinche is an appropriately named ensemble which has become one of the Northwest’s premier musical groups. Their performances of new and traditional Latin-dance rhythms from the Caribbean and South America have earned them loyal audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

For 20 years they have performed extensively in concerts, festivals, clubs, on television and radio, and on tour for such organizations as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Washington State Arts Commission, the Seattle Symphony, and Young Audiences, presenting their highly acclaimed school show, “A Musical Tour of the Americas” in several states nationwide.

In the last few years, Bochinche has won five Northwest Area Music Awards (NAMA) and has been named as Seattle’s favorite band in the Seattle Weekly Magazine’s reader’s poll.

The Seattle Times describes Bochinche’s music as “the hottest music in town; powerful, fiery, percussive music that all but forces you to move to its pulsating rhythms.”

Bochinche’s original repertoire can be found on their recordings, “A Musical Tour of the Americas,” “Caracas,” “Pina con Coco,” and “Ahora Bochinche.”
